Realtime data exchange between F28069M and host pc


Currently I'm working on developing a motorcontroller using the f28069 launchpad by Texas Instruments. I'm follwing allong with the book "Applied Control Electric Drive" and it's Vissim examples. I would like to be able to distribute the final controller as a pre-compiled package but allow updating certain variables and the set-point in real-time.

My question is what would be the best approach to exchange data in realtime between the embedded system and for instance matlab without vissim in the middle?
